It is the 25th anniversary of Royal Oak Offshore collection this year. In my opinion, the most classic Offshore must be the original 25721ST, which perfectly presents the design concept. Dating back to the history of Offshore, we should firstly talk about the birth of Royal Oak. In 1972, Gerald Genta designed with Royal Oak for Audemars Piguet, causing a heat of steel sport watch with large size. In 1989, Stephen Urquhart thought that the collection should break through to attract more young men.
Emmanuel Gueit, the designer of Royal Oak Offshore found that many women began to wear their husbands’ watches. He considered that the wristwatches with larger sizes would be more and more popular. So he thought the model which was larger than Royal Oak would enhance the charm of the men wearers, perfectly presenting the masculinity. So the bold fake Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore was born.
The Offshore got very poor evaluation when it was launched at the beginning. The Italian market was the first to accept the new collection and began to appreciate the beauty of them. With the revival of mechanical watches and the trend of the big watches, the steel case copy Audemars Piguet caused the big heat soon.
